We are thrilled to support The Atmospheric Fund in their search for a VP Impact Investing. Founded in 1991, TAF is a leader in impact investing, focused on urban solutions to climate change, with a vision of a net-zero Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA) by 2050. TAF is a non-share capital corporation with $100M in endowments from Municipal, Provincial and Federal governments. The proceeds from the responsible investment of these endowments provide the main source of operating revenue for TAF. TAF also invests a percentage of these funds directly to advance the commercialization of low-carbon solutions and mobilize greater capital toward the low-carbon economy. A mission-driven leader, the VP Impact Investing: (1) oversees and directs the prudent and responsible management of the investment portfolio; (2) designs and leads strategies to originate direct investment opportunities with strong carbon and social outcomes, and risk-adjusted returns; and (3) leads the identification and development of approaches to overcome financial barriers to scaling up urban low-carbon solutions. If you want to become part of a future-thinking organization that's making a big impact in carbon reduction initiatives, apply today!
You will oversee the organization's full portfolio to ensure impactful, risk-adjusted and responsible investment of assets. This includes hiring external managers, regularly reviewing policies and re-balancing as needed, reviewing results with support from third-party investment advisors, and overseeing direct investments activity to ensure strong performance against our targets. You will champion and maintain the balance of risk, return and impact. You will lead and ensure compliance, due diligence, and transparent reporting on behalf of the Investment Committee and Board of Directors, as well as "shareholders".
You will provide leadership and oversight of direct investment activities and results, lead analysis and due diligence, and provide actionable investment recommendations and guidance throughout the transaction process. You will develop and nurture high-quality relationships to source investment opportunities for the organization, leveraging a range of flexible structuring options, a co-investor network and integrated support including policy, research and other activity. You will ensure responsible investment of funds and a strong performance against the goals of scaling and commercializing urban climate solutions.
You recognize the financial needs and opportunities of a growing low-carbon economy and how this activity can also create stronger social outcomes and solve multiple challenges. You will lead the Impact Investing practice and vision, providing continuous perspective, foresight, advice and ideas in service of the organization's mission and goals. You will provide leadership to the Impact Investing team, building up a strong and collaborative team culture, and coaching and developing their skills. You will identify areas requiring financial innovation to remove barriers and create opportunities for greater low-carbon economic activity.
